About Me

A Brisbane‑based photographer, traveller, hiker and trail runner. I use my camera to capture quiet, atmospheric moments — from European mountain huts and historic streets to Australia’s rainforests and coastal tracks.

“Talin” is an anagram of “Latin”, my favourite style of ballroom dancing when competing as teenager. It’s a small nod to rhythm, movement and connection — the same things I’m always looking for in my photographs.

Since the groovy days of the 70s, cameras have been part of my life. I started with a Kodak Instamatic (yes, the one with the rotating flash) and moved on to a 35mm Praktica SLR, learning to shoot, develop and print my own photographs in the high‑school darkroom. Photography has dipped in and out of focus over the years, but it’s always been there in the background.

Recently my love for photography has reignited, woven into my passions for travel, hiking and trail running. My DSLR and trusty smartphone now come with me everywhere: through the historic towns and streets of Spain, Queensland’s magical rainforests and the breath-taking peaks of Tasmania’s Overland Track, as well as the Swiss and French Alps.

I’m drawn to honest, understated scenes, changing light, reflections, simple lines and small signs of human presence in big landscapes. Each click of the shutter is a way to pause time, blending the nostalgia of film with the possibilities of digital. I hope these images invite you to slow down, look a little closer and see the world the way I experience it.
